How to Use Smart & Easy Plumbing App

1. Set Your Start Node
Determine the center of your pipe’s start face (X₁, Y₁). Often you can set X₁=0 and Y₁=0 if it’s your reference. For Z₁, measure how high that face is above the ground (e.g., if it’s 10 inches above ground, set Z₁ = 10). Then choose the face direction (e.g., +X, +Y, +Z) and the connection type (Male or Female).

2. Set Your End Node
Measure the end face center (X₂, Y₂) relative to the start face. For Z₂, use the same ground reference if it’s level, or the vertical offset if the ground is uneven. Select the face direction and the connection type (Male or Female).

3. Choose Pipe Size, Elbows, and Alignment
Pick your pipe size, then select whether you want only 90° elbows or both 90° and 45° elbows. You can optionally force the path to remain at the same Z-level if your design requires a flat or specific vertical alignment. This can sometimes yield a simpler or shorter path.

4. Add Obstacles (Optional)
If there are obstacles (walls, equipment, or other pipes), specify them by entering two corner points of the obstacle’s bounding box:

  • Lower corner (X₁, Y₁, Z₁): Often Z₁=0 at ground level.

  • Upper corner (X₂, Y₂, Z₂): Usually includes the obstacle’s height.

Provide a clearance (CLR) value that’s at least as large as the pipe diameter, ensuring the path stays a safe distance away.

5. Compute Path
Tap “Compute Path” to calculate the route. The app displays:

  • Segment lengths and total pipe length

  • Number of elbows/fittings

  • Approximate cost (if available)

Use these details to cut, label, and assemble your pipe segments.

6. Convert Path to Obstacle
Once the path is computed, you can convert the current (plumbed) path into obstacles by tapping the “Convert Path” button. This feature locks in the installed pipe as an obstacle using a clearance based on a fraction of the pipe diameter (typically pipe diameter/4). This ensures that any new pipe route will be computed so that it avoids colliding with the already installed pipe. Use this feature if you plan to run a second pipe along or near the same route.

7. Clear
Tap “Clear” to reset your inputs and start a new calculation.
